Why are Kenyans suddenly Shazaming Aidonia? Nearly two years after its August 2024 release, the Jamaican dancehall star’s Le Le Le has unexpectedly found new life in East Africa, recently cracking Kenya’s Shazam Top 10 before settling at No. 46 on the latest chart. The song is also charting at No. 74 in Uganda, giving Aidonia an intriguing two-market East African presence at a time when some of dancehall’s biggest names are also gaining traction in Kenya.

The movement is particularly noteworthy because Le Le Le is not a new release. Rather than arriving with a fresh promotional push, the 2024 song has entered a new discovery cycle, with listeners in Kenya increasingly using Shazam to identify it. That kind of activity can signal organic interest driven by DJs, parties, social media, playlists or other forms of exposure, although the precise reason behind the surge has not yet been publicly established.

Aidonia’s latest Kenya performance also places him within a wider dancehall moment. The current Shazam chart includes Skillibeng at No. 4 with Know Why, Valiant and Di Genius at No. 8 with Woii, Vybz Kartel at No. 10 with Dancehall Hero and Gyptian at No. 12 with Stunta. Meanwhile, Le Le Le remains in the conversation at No. 46 and is still holding at No. 74 in Uganda, suggesting that the song’s discovery is not confined to one country.

For Aidonia, the African movement could represent more than an unusual chart appearance. A song released nearly two years ago is now reaching new listeners thousands of miles from Jamaica, and the next question is whether that curiosity will translate into sustained streams, club rotation and wider exposure across East Africa. If Le Le Le continues travelling, Kenya and Uganda could become the starting point of one of the most unexpected international chapters of Aidonia’s career.
