After spending more than 30 years promoting Jamaican dancehall culture around the world, veteran selector Marlon “Boom Boom” Wizzard has been officially named a Magnum Tonic Wine Brand Ambassador. The announcement, made during Magnum Reggae Sumfest 2026 at Plantation Cove in St Ann, recognised him as a “Champion of Dancehall” and sees him join an influential roster of ambassadors that includes Spice, Ding Dong and Laa Lee. The appointment marks another major milestone in Boom Boom’s career while reinforcing Magnum’s longstanding commitment to celebrating the personalities who continue to shape Jamaican music and dancehall culture.

The honour was unveiled during this year’s staging of Magnum Reggae Sumfest, where Boom Boom received a premium custom jacket designed by Tribe Nine Studios in recognition of his decades of service to dancehall, sound system culture and Jamaican street dance. The veteran selector, also known as World Boom and Billboard Selector, later reminded patrons why he remains one of the culture’s most respected entertainers, delivering an energetic performance backed by Magnum dancers and fellow selector Harry Hype. The presentation highlighted both his enduring popularity and his ability to connect with multiple generations of dancehall fans.

Magnum Brand Manager Brandon Wallace described the appointment as the natural evolution of a relationship that has been built over many years through the brand’s support of Boom Boom and his signature event, Boom Sundays. Wallace said Boom Boom’s influence stretches far beyond the turntables, noting that he has consistently created opportunities within the culture while helping to keep dancehall at the forefront of popular entertainment. According to Wallace, the ambassadorship reflects Magnum’s desire to recognise individuals who embody the spirit of the brand and have made meaningful contributions to the industry.

The announcement was warmly welcomed across the dancehall fraternity. Paul Thompson, better known as Energy Di Dancer of Get There Squad, described the recognition as “a win for dancehall”, praising Magnum for honouring someone who has dedicated years to uplifting the culture. An emotional Boom Boom also welcomed the partnership, calling it “a dream come true” and pledging to continue advocating for Jamaican reggae and dancehall on the global stage. With Magnum continuing to invest in initiatives such as Magnum Top Performa and Magnum Weh Yuh Know Bout Dancehall, Boom Boom’s appointment signals another chapter in the brand’s enduring relationship with Jamaican music and further cements his legacy as one of dancehall’s most influential cultural ambassadors.
