Following the breakout success of “The Little Things” — the Hurricane Melissa-inspired reggae anthem that topped the iTunes US Reggae Chart — Jamaican singer D’Yani is reaching another notable milestone in his steadily rising career. The singer’s acoustic performance of “Journey” premiered Thursday on the official Grammys YouTube channel as part of its acclaimed Global Spin series, adding to a growing list of achievements that also includes a UK label signing, an upcoming international tour run, and the pending release of his forthcoming album, Live Life and Prosper.
Filmed inside the legendary Tuff Gong Studio in Kingston, Jamaica, the stripped-back performance captures D’Yani delivering the reflective reggae anthem alongside a live band and choir, highlighting the soulful vocal style that has helped him gain increasing international attention. “Journey” serves as the lead single from Live Life and Prosper, which is scheduled for release in August and produced by Kareem “Remus” Burrell of XTM Nation, the hitmaker behind “Live A Little.”
The Grammy feature marks another major international co-sign for the Jamaican artiste, whose profile has continued to expand beyond the Caribbean market in recent months. Earlier this year, D’Yani became the first Jamaican act signed to UK-based independent label Lizzy Records as the company broadened its global roster. The move signalled growing overseas interest in the singer’s fusion of roots reggae, soul, and contemporary Caribbean sounds.
Momentum surrounding D’Yani has also been fuelled by the success of “The Little Things,” produced by Seanizzle Records. Released on March 27, the reflective single climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes US Reggae Chart and resonated with listeners through its message of gratitude and appreciating life’s simple moments. Its accompanying visuals, inspired by the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, further deepened the emotional connection with fans across the Caribbean diaspora and reggae audience worldwide.
Meanwhile, D’Yani is preparing for a busy summer schedule beginning with an appearance at the St. Kitts Music Festival this weekend, before heading to the UK and other international markets in the months ahead. With a Grammy-backed performance now added to his résumé and anticipation building around Live Life and Prosper, the Jamaican singer appears poised to elevate his career to another level.
