Alkaline continues to strengthen his presence on the international music scene after his latest project, NPT, became the first dancehall album to enter Billboard’s Reggae Albums Chart in 2026. The album debuted at No.10, and subsequently peaked at No.9, adding another major milestone to the Vendetta deejay’s growing Billboard legacy following previous charting projects New Level Unlocked and Top Prize. As the project maintains strong momentum months after release, the Jamaican entertainer has now secured two nominations at the 2026 Caribbean Music Awards.
The dancehall star earned nominations for Male Dancehall Artist of the Year and the coveted People’s Choice Award at the fourth annual Caribbean Music Awards, which this year features more than 250 nominees across over 40 categories. Voting officially opened on June 10 and will continue through August 10 as fans worldwide rally behind their favourite Caribbean acts.
Released on March 23, NPT has steadily built momentum across digital platforms throughout the Caribbean. Nearly three months after release, the album currently holds the No.1 spot on Antigua’s iTunes Albums Chart ahead of projects from global superstars Drake, Beyoncé and Adele, while also maintaining a strong presence on Apple Music across the region. In Antigua and Barbuda, the project currently sits at No.4 on Apple Music, further highlighting its sustained streaming success.
Several tracks from the project continue to perform strongly on Antigua’s Apple Music Songs Chart, led by “Gyal Good” at No.4. Songs including “Nice & Easy”, “Masterpiece”, “Mirage”, “Hostage”, “Key Man”, “City”, “Boss”, “Spoil You” and “Different Story” have also secured placements inside the platform’s Top 100, reinforcing the album’s staying power months after release.
Meanwhile, the nominations arrive during a highly competitive year for Caribbean music. The 2026 Caribbean Music Awards is currently being led by Lady Lava with nine nominations, while artists including Ayetian, Machel Montano, V’ghn, Shenseea, Skillibeng, Masicka, Popcaan and Vybz Kartel also secured multiple nods. However, Alkaline’s continued chart success across the Caribbean has once again sparked discussion among fans and industry observers about the deejay’s enduring influence and ability to maintain commercial dominance in an increasingly crowded music landscape.
As NPT continues its impressive regional run and Caribbean Music Awards voting season heats up, all eyes remain on whether Alkaline can convert his commercial success into another major awards moment later this year.
