YG Marley continues to maintain a presence on the international music scene as his breakout anthem “Praise Jah in the Moonlight” has officially been certified Platinum in the United Kingdom, further cementing the young star as one of reggae’s biggest global success stories in recent years. At a time when critics continue to question reggae’s place on mainstream charts, amid heated debates in Jamaica, the viral hit is proving the genre still carries undeniable international power, connecting with a new generation of listeners while pushing the Marley legacy into a fresh era.

Released in late 2023, “Praise Jah in the Moonlight” quickly exploded across streaming platforms and social media, becoming one of the most recognisable reggae tracks of the modern streaming era. Powered by TikTok virality, strong Spotify playlist support, and crossover appeal beyond traditional reggae audiences, the single climbed charts internationally and introduced younger fans to Rastafarian themes through a polished, contemporary sound. The song also carries deep musical roots, sampling “Crisis” by Bob Marley and The Wailers while blending modern production with classic reggae influences.

The Platinum certification in the UK follows the song’s major success in the United States, where it previously earned the same achievement, further highlighting YG Marley’s growing worldwide influence. Industry observers have pointed to the track as one of the clearest examples in recent years of reggae successfully crossing into mainstream youth culture without abandoning its identity. Meanwhile, the involvement of Lauryn Hill, who co-produced and co-wrote the song, added another layer of musical credibility and intergenerational appeal to the breakout record.

As conversations continue about the future of reggae on the global stage, YG Marley’s continued presence is being viewed by many fans as a sign that the genre still has room to evolve commercially while staying rooted in culture and consciousness. With “Praise Jah in the Moonlight” continuing to resonate worldwide, attention is now turning to what the rising star does next and whether this moment could spark a wider resurgence for reggae music internationally.
