Renowned dancehall artiste Mad Cobra has been hospitalised following a motor vehicle accident on the Florida Turnpike in South Florida, according to credible sources close to the situation. The entertainer, given name Ewart Brown, was reportedly travelling home after spending time with associates when the incident occurred on Thursday, May 28. He is understood to be in stable condition and recovering under medical supervision.

Sources indicate that the “Flex” hitmaker is surrounded by family members and close friends amid his recovery. While details surrounding the accident remain limited, those close to the artiste say his condition is being monitored. His family has respectfully requested privacy during this period as they navigate the aftermath of the incident.

The news has sparked concern across the dancehall community, where Mad Cobra remains one of the genre’s most respected figures. Rising to prominence during the early 1990s, he built a formidable catalogue of hits including “Shoot to Kill,” “Bad Boy Talk,” “Yush,” and “Gundelero.” His distinctive style and commanding delivery helped establish him as one of dancehall’s standout voices during a transformative era for Jamaican music.

Mad Cobra’s biggest international breakthrough came with the 1992 smash hit “Flex” from his album Hard to Wet, Easy to Dry. The track crossed over into the mainstream U.S. market, topping rap charts and earning a place on the Billboard Hot 100, making him one of the first Jamaican artistes to achieve significant crossover success in North America. Throughout the decades that followed, he continued recording and touring while collaborating with influential producers and artistes across reggae, dancehall, hip-hop and emerging Latin urban genres.

As fans around the world await further updates, messages of support have begun circulating online for the dancehall veteran.
