Dancehall star Masicka has issued an official statement after several of his songs were abruptly removed from YouTube following a copyright claim, assuring fans that the matter is being addressed and that the music will soon return online. The tracks “Whites,” “Rich Sex,” “Mute,” and “Scope” were recently taken down after a takedown request was filed earlier this year, triggering widespread discussion across social media and among dancehall followers.
In a statement shared via Instagram, the entertainer — whose real name is Javaun Fearon — strongly disputed the allegations and defended the legitimacy of his recordings. “All songs released by Javaun Fearon were written by Javaun Fearon and released through the proper channels,” the statement read. Masicka added that his legal and distribution partners are actively working to resolve the issue and restore the videos, noting that automated copyright systems can sometimes trigger inaccurate claims that temporarily affect artists and their audiences.
The removals surfaced earlier this week after an email reportedly sent to distributor ONErpm began circulating online. The message, dated March 10, 2026, was allegedly written by Melissa Mais, who claims she created the works in question on May 4, 2023 while in custody. According to the correspondence, she alleged that the material was later released commercially without her consent and that songs such as “Whites” incorporated lyrics, melodies and creative concepts she authored.
Despite the YouTube takedowns, the tracks remain available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music. Meanwhile, Masicka attempted to reassure supporters in the caption accompanying his statement, writing: “New music soon, check on ppl with mental health, all my songs will be back up shortly.” As the dispute unfolds, the dancehall heavyweight appears focused on keeping fans engaged while his team works to restore the videos and clarify ownership of the recordings.
