Dancehall star Alkaline is enjoying a wave of momentum, blending chart dominance with corporate recognition after being honoured by Guinness as a “Champion of Culture” at the Up To The Line venue moments before his performance. According to Guinness, the recognition was grounded in Alkaline’s undeniable cultural influence and his role in shaping modern dancehall on his own terms. The accolade arrives as his female-focused single Gyal Good, lifted from the NPT album, surges across streaming platforms, TikTok trends, and live performances—positioning the Vendetta deejay at the centre of dancehall’s current global conversation.

Released on 22 March, Gyal Good has quickly evolved into a fan-driven anthem, particularly among female listeners. The track’s growing influence was on full display at the 2026 staging of Up To The Line in Kingston, where loud, unified reactions from women in the crowd underscored its hit-bound potential. The viral traction has translated into measurable success, with the single climbing to No. 4 on Jamaica’s YouTube Music Top 20 Chart and No. 2 on the Apple Music Top 25: Kingston chart. Meanwhile, fellow NPT cuts Graduate and Different Story continue to perform strongly, reinforcing the project’s wide-reaching appeal.

On the international front, the NPT album made a commanding debut at No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Albums Chart before slipping to No. 2, edged out by the enduring catalogue of Bob Marley & The Wailers. Still, the album’s sustained presence signals Alkaline’s continued relevance beyond the Caribbean, while Gyal Good holds a position on the U.S. iTunes Reggae Songs Chart, adding to its growing commercial footprint.

The Guinness co-sign adds further weight to that trajectory. “Alkaline has carved out his own lane and defined what it means to be a champion in this era,” said Junior Brand Manager Lasana Wilson, pointing to his consistency and cultural impact. With viral traction, strong iTunes chart performance, and a charged connection with fans, Alkaline continues to shape the sound and energy of modern dancehall—setting the pace for what could be another dominant chapter in his career.
