Dr. Gabrielle Henry is on the road to recovery after last week’s frightening fall at the Miss Universe pageant in Thailand, with officials now confirming she is in “good health and nearing discharge.” The update came directly from Miss Universe Organization President Raúl Rocha, who issued a detailed statement on Monday aimed at clearing the air amid swirling speculation about the Jamaican contestant’s condition.

According to Rocha, the past several days brought “difficult moments and unexpected concerns,” but he credited the medical team in Thailand for resolving each issue swiftly. He added that additional specialists were brought in for extensive evaluations following the incident, ensuring what he described as “the most accurate medical oversight” for Dr. Henry.

Dr. Henry’s withdrawal from the pageant was confirmed last Friday by the Miss Universe Jamaica Organization, citing medical advice. The fall—captured during the evening gown segment—left her with head trauma and lacerations to her chin and foot, as previously stated by Minister Olivia “Babsy” Grange on behalf of the Henry family. She has remained in ICU under continuous monitoring. Her sister, Dr. Phylicia Henry-Samuels, and their mother, Maureen Henry, are currently with her in Thailand.

Rocha also addressed public confusion about what happened onstage. “Immediate action was taken to ensure her safety and well-being,” he wrote, explaining that he personally went onstage to assist and was present in the emergency room with her family. He further confirmed that the Organization has fully covered all travel, accommodation, and medical expenses connected to her care.

As Dr. Henry prepares for release, the Organization says its focus remains on her full recovery. With Jamaica and the global pageant community rallying behind her, all eyes are now on her next steps once she returns home.
