Vybz Kartel Claps Back at Fans Complaining About His Performances: “I Am Not Chris Brown!”

Vybz Kartel has heard the chatter — and he’s not holding back. The dancehall legend, currently blazing through his Worl’ Boss Tour, took a moment during his latest performance in Toronto to respond to fans who’ve been criticising his stage presentation, some suggesting he add dancers or more choreography to his shows. With three sold-out nights at Scotiabank Arena, Kartel decided it was time to set the record straight — in true “Teacha” style.

During his second Toronto show, Kartel addressed the crowd mid-performance, declaring with a laugh, “I am not Chris Brown!” The comment sparked an eruption of cheers and laughter as the deejay playfully mimicked breakdancing moves and even attempted Michael Jackson’s iconic moonwalk. “Mi cyah do this,” he joked, before adding, “Big up Breezy!” — a respectful nod to the R&B superstar whose polished stage routines have set a global standard.

The moment instantly went viral, with fans flooding social media to debate and celebrate Kartel’s statement. “The comedy side of Vybz Kartel! ???” one fan commented, while another added, “You gotta be Jamaican to understand ???.” Others defended the artist’s authenticity, noting, “He don’t do that dancing and singing because he can’t, so don’t look for it.?” The overall consensus? The Worl’ Boss isn’t trying to be anyone else — he’s doing what made him an icon: raw, unfiltered dancehall energy.

The playful clapback follows Kartel’s explosive Toronto debut earlier in the week, where fans were left stunned after Drake joined him on stage for an eight-song mini-set. Though some concertgoers expressed mild disappointment about the show’s length or lack of visual flair, Kartel’s charisma and lyrical dominance reminded everyone why he remains one of Jamaica’s most magnetic performers.

With the final Toronto show wrapping up October 30, one thing is clear — Vybz Kartel doesn’t need backup dancers or flashy routines to hold a crowd. The Worl’ Boss is the performance.
