Dancehall artiste Future Fambo is counting his blessings after surviving what doctors described as a mild heart attack while in New York on Sunday. The “Rum and Red Bull” deejay, known for his infectious energy and party anthems, revealed that the health scare has left him determined to ditch his partying lifestyle and walk with God starting January 2026.
In an emotional Instagram video, Fambo—born Warren Williams—appeared hooked up to medical apparatus as emergency responders worked to stabilize his vitals. The entertainer, who has been open about living with diabetes, said the episode began after eating cornmeal porridge, following two days of not eating properly while traveling from Sacramento. “When I drank the porridge, cold sweat start wash me, vision blurry, and mi caan help myself, so my friend call the ambulance,” he explained.
Now recovering at home, Fambo shared that the ordeal was a major wake-up call. “It look like mi blood sugar drop and when I eat the cornmeal porridge with the milk, it overload mi system,” he said, adding that while his blood pressure remained stable, the scare left him shaken. “They said to come to the hospital, but I told them no. Mi alright now.”
Fambo, who recently released the gospel-inspired single “Amazing Song” under World Blast Records, admitted that the experience has deepened his faith. “Mi ah gi dem a last run and leave this life behind,” he declared. “Mi tired of the hypocrisy, the lying, the clout-chasing—it’s mind-boggling sometimes.” The entertainer also revealed that he had prayed for half an hour shortly before the incident. “It’s a good thing too, because yu haffi talk to Him before.”
Emerging in the early 1990s as Future Troubles, Fambo rose to fame with hits like Kung Fu and China Mi Live, before reinventing himself with crowd favorites such as Drunken Dance, Rum and Red Bull (with Beenie Man), and Tonight We Ravin’. Now, after decades in the industry, the once high-energy hitmaker says he’s ready for a new chapter rooted in faith and gratitude.
