After electrifying thousands at Reggae Land 2025 in the U.K., where the festival set a Guinness World Record by crafting the world’s largest rum punch, Grammy-winning reggae star Kabaka Pyramid is taking his global journey east. The Kingston-born lyricist is set to perform in Singapore for the very first time at the Jungle Ballroom, marking another milestone in a career that has consistently pushed the boundaries of reggae music.
Kabaka, born Keron Salmon, has become one of the more prominent voices of the Reggae movement, blending reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop into a sound that’s both culturally rooted and forward-looking. His critically acclaimed sophomore album The Kalling, produced by Damian Marley, not only earned him the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album but also featured heavyweight collaborations with Stephen Marley, Protoje, Jesse Royal, and Buju Banton. The record was praised by Mojo magazine as “an unprecedented blend of hip hop and reggae to deliver songs of social commentary and Black pride.”
Fans in Singapore can expect a powerful setlist featuring hits from The Kalling, alongside fan favourites from earlier projects like Rebel Music, Kontraband, and the Accurate mixtape. Hosting the night will be Singapore’s own Masia One, whose fusion of hip-hop and reggae has earned her a loyal following, while international DJs including DJ Justo (Canada), Dubshottas International (Canada-China), and Yella Sky Sound System (Indonesia) promise to keep the vibes flowing with selections of reggae, dub, dancehall, and hip-hop.
Kabaka’s rise has been anything but ordinary. From his early days with the Bebble Rock collective to tours across Europe and the United States with Damian Marley, he has steadily carved out a reputation for lyricism, activism, and artistry. Songs like “Mi Alright” with Chronixx and the viral hit “Reggae Music,” which has surpassed 10 million YouTube views, have established him as a standard-bearer for conscious reggae on the global stage.
Now, with performances at landmark festivals and first-time appearances in new territories, Kabaka Pyramid’s journey reflects reggae’s ever-expanding influence. His Singapore debut is not just a concert—it’s another chapter in the story of an artist who continues to carry the torch of Jamaican music to the world.
