Dancehall star Aidonia has issued an apology to his UK fan base after police were forced to shut down the Sandz Caribbean Music Festival at Addington Park in Croydon on Sunday, August 17. The 4th Genna boss, who was billed as the headliner alongside Vanessa Bling, took to Instagram to express regret after chaos erupted when attendees began storming gates and pushing down fences to enter the venue. “SORRY TO ALL MY FANS IN THE UK ?? GOTTA MAKE THIS UP TO YOU GOTTA MAKE IT RIGHT!!!!! NUFF LOVE ❤️,” he wrote, promising to return and deliver on the show his supporters had been eagerly awaiting.

The highly anticipated performance marked Aidonia’s first UK appearance in 18 years, following the reinstatement of his visa earlier this summer. The excitement had been building for weeks, with the deejay previously telling Prism Marketing Consultants, “It’s a great feeling being able to return to the U.K after 18 years. We go there as a young artiste so it’s a whole different artiste and a whole different catalogue right now… the people them can just look out. It’s going to be great!”

In the days leading up to Sandz, the anticipation was on full display. Last Friday, Aidonia made a cameo appearance with renowned DJ AG at Westfield London, where he was mobbed by fans in a frenzy of excitement ahead of the big show. The warm reception highlighted just how much his return meant to longtime supporters, many of whom had not seen him perform live since the early 2000s.

This UK homecoming also followed a string of standout moments in Aidonia’s career this year. Just months earlier, he celebrated 20 years in the music industry with a sold-out show at New York’s UBS Arena, sharing the stage with Shenseea, Mavado, Jada Kingdom, Cham, Govana, and Sizzla Kalonji. He also hinted that a “solid Grammy-type album” is in the works, a project fans have been anticipating since his 2023 Occupied Mind release.

Though his Sandz headlining set was cut short, the overwhelming turnout and fan frenzy served as proof that Aidonia’s star power in the UK remains undimmed. With an apology issued and promises to “make it right,” the dancehall stalwart appears ready to turn this setback into another milestone on his path to global resurgence.
