Renowned Jamaican actor and comedian Glen ‘Titus’ Campbell, O.D., received a warm reception in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was celebrated for more than four decades of excellence in theatre and comedy. In a powerful moment that underscored his global cultural impact, the Georgia State Senate — via DeKalb County — officially proclaimed May 25, 2025, as “Glen Campbell Day,” honouring the beloved entertainer for his outstanding contributions to the performing arts and his lifelong role as a cultural ambassador for Jamaica.

The proclamation was presented during a private reception hosted by Gail Dunwell and attended by a cross-section of Caribbean-American dignitaries, supporters, and fans. It was formally delivered by Professor Dr. Conrad Ingram on behalf of Commissioner Dr. Ladena Bolton. Adding to the emotional evening, Georgia Superior Court Judge, The Honourable Jewell Scott, Esq., also presented Campbell with a Senate proclamation, recognising his enduring artistic achievements and his influence as a symbol of pride in the diaspora.

While in Atlanta, Campbell headlined two sold-out performances of the critically acclaimed play Room 513 at Shiloh High School in Lithonia. The reception from audiences underscored his timeless connection with theatre lovers both at home and abroad. His weekend of accolades was further crowned with a prestigious award from the Jamaican Museum and Cultural Center (JMCC), saluting his 44 years of commitment to the craft and to uplifting Jamaican culture through laughter.

“It’s heartwarming to see the love for Jamaican theatre alive and well so far from home,” Campbell said in a moving response to the tributes. From his unforgettable role in Titus in Town to countless stage performances, Glen Campbell continues to bridge borders through his comedic brilliance and cultural pride — proving that talent rooted in authenticity resonates far beyond its origin.
