Dancehall artiste Kiprich is set to appear before the St. Catherine Parish Court this Friday, February 21, to answer the charge of using audio and audiovisual communication to promote criminal activity. Since his arrest on February 10, the deejay has been grappling with the emotional and professional fallout from the allegations, revealing that he went four days without eating due to the distress. Now, in the midst of the controversy, he has turned to music as his form of therapy, releasing a new single, God Pickney, which he hopes will not only uplift him but also reassure his fans of his true character.
“Music is my therapy because that’s how I express myself through my art,” Kiprich explained, adding that the song serves as both a personal outlet and a way to clear his name. He firmly stated that he is not a man of violence and would never incite harm against the state or law enforcement, emphasizing that God Pickney is a testament to his faith and resilience.
Following his arrest, Kiprich was granted station bail, but the ordeal has taken a toll not just on him but also on his family, who he says have been negatively affected by the situation. “Mi hurt inside, man. It don’t take a day or two to build the kind of character mi build over the years and have people see mi in a positive light,” he expressed. Despite this, he remains focused on pushing forward, even hinting at a possible dancehall-gospel EP following the positive reception of his latest song.
