Reggae sensation Bugle has kicked off 2025 with a major accolade, as his fifth studio album, Apex, secures a nomination for Best Album/CD at the 42nd International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA). The prestigious ceremony, set for March 30, 2025, at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts in Florida, will see Bugle vying for the coveted Toots Hibbert Award alongside other industry heavyweights like Collie Buddz (Take It Easy), Shenseea (Never Gets Late Here), and Vybz Kartel (Party with Me).
The nomination caps off a stellar run for Apex, released in August 2024 via An9ted Entertainment. The 16-track album, featuring collaborations with reggae legends Buju Banton, Damian “Jr Gong” Marley, Barrington Levy, Capleton, and Maxi Priest, has earned critical acclaim for its introspective themes and authentic reggae sound. “This is a blessing beyond words,” Bugle shared, reflecting on the recognition. The album debuted at No. 2 on the iTunes U.K. Reggae Albums Chart and No. 11 in the U.S., bolstering Bugle’s position as a leading voice in reggae music.
Adding to the album’s success is the runaway hit single Thank You Lord, a collaboration with Buju Banton and Damian Marley. The song, lauded for its powerful lyrics and soulful delivery, dominated the Foundation Radio Network Reggae Chart and became a fan favourite across the diaspora. Its visually captivating music video, directed by Maniac Visualz and shot in Kingston, has also struck a chord with audiences, amassing over 2.2 million views on YouTube as of January 16, 2025.
