Newly appointed ambassador for the T-20 Cricket World Cup, Usain Bolt continues to demonstrate his versatility beyond athletics, this time making significant strides in the world of music. On Friday, May 3, Bolt, a seasoned businessman and burgeoning music producer, unveiled his latest body of work, “Sweet 7 Riddim,” a reggae compilation album, showcasing his commitment to exploring various facets of music, particularly reggae, a genre he deeply connects with. The album, which marks Bolt’s seventh studio release under the A-Team Lifestyle label, features a diverse lineup of artists, each contributing their unique style to the project.
The legendary sprinter noting his inspiration behind the album, emphasized the universal appeal of reggae music and its ability to forge connections across cultures. “On my musical journey, it’s important for me to explore all the different facets of our music,” Bolt explained. “Reggae music always connects differently with people around the world, so I wanted to contribute a body of work in the reggae space.” With “Sweet 7 Riddim,” Bolt aims to deliver feel-good music accessible to all listeners, covering a range of topics from societal issues to themes of love and spirituality.
The seven-track set boasts a blend of established and emerging talents, carefully selected by Bolt and his manager, Nugent ‘NJ’ Walker. From soulful singers like Alaine, Christopher Martin and Lukie D to rising sensation like Ras-I, each artist brings their own energy and perspective to the project. Co-produced by Walker and featuring beats by Rajah Karanja Nelson, “Sweet 7 Riddim” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
Bolt’s venture into the music industry is not new, with previous successful releases including “Olympe Rose Riddim” (2019), “Clockwork Riddim” (2021), and “9.58 Riddim” (2022). As he continues to expand his musical repertoire, Bolt hinted at future projects, including the release of singles in the pipeline.
