Following the revelation weeks ago by Rvssian that he and compatriot Shenseea had not spoken in over two years, which subsequently led to their reconciliation. Earlier this week, the four-time MOBO Award nominee and 2021 winner Shenseea was captured in the studio, previewing a new joint effort curated by the accomplished music producer.
The dancehall songstress first teased the song days ago via social media while horseback riding, noting that she had found her inspiration for the next single. Chronicling the event on Thursday, February 29, she posted an in-studio visual via her official Instagram account accompanied by the caption, “After 2 years.. some new 🔥🔥🐉 X @rvssian”. Rvssian also shared the clip on his Instagram Story with his over 1.1 million followers.
Amid recent criticism surrounding her comments on dancehall and her core fan base, the Jamaican entertainer’s latest single, ‘Hit & Run,’ featuring Masicka, has proven to be a triumph. Released over a month ago, the track has steadily amassed over 15.5 million views on YouTube and currently trends at the No.11 spot on Jamaica’s Trending Music Chart.
Undeterred by criticism, the ‘Lick‘ singer is gearing up to release her eagerly awaited sophomore album, slated for some time this year. Following the commendable debut of her first album, ‘Alpha,’ in March 2022, the artist appears committed to outperforming her previous projects. In an interview with Billboard in March 2023, Shenseea expressed her excitement about the forthcoming project, stating,
“I’m really excited about that. I think it’s going to be amazing; the new album will have dancehall that Americans can definitely love and understand.”
Will her intent for the album remain the same, or will it be more geared towards her core fan base in the Caribbean diaspora? Only time will reveal.
