Jamaican dancehall luminary Teejay has not only marked his official entry onto the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart with his debut EP ‘I Am Chippy’, after rising to the top of the Reggae iTunes Chart last week but has also cemented a lifelong commitment to his partner, Tionna, with a heartfelt marriage proposal over the weekend.
Teejay, born Timoy Jones, has swiftly ascended the ranks of the music industry, and his latest achievement further underscores his burgeoning influence. Released under the Warner Records banner on February 2, 2024, ‘I Am Chippy’ has made a resounding entrance, claiming the No. 9 spot on the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. Boasting nine tracks, the EP features a fusion of infectious rhythms and notable collaborations, including the acclaimed remix of his 2023 hit “Drift” with Nigerian superstar Davido. Co-executive produced by Shaggy and Sharon Burke, the project showcases Teejay’s versatility and ability to bridge musical styles seamlessly.
However, Teejay’s triumph on the charts is not the only cause for celebration in his camp. The artist took to social media during a live Instagram session on Saturday evening to pop the question to his longtime love, Tionna. Surprising her with a dazzling diamond ring and a dessert plate bearing the words, “Will You Marry Me” written in chocolate, Teejay’s romantic gesture elicited an ecstatic “yes” from Tionna, which she promptly shared with her followers.
