Goa Sunsplash, India’s premier live reggae music festival, is set to unfold this month on January 13 and 14, 2024, at Antisocial Goa, situated on Gawdewada Road in the scenic town of Morjim, Goa. Headlining this year’s event is the esteemed Jamaican-born international recording artist Anthony B.
A statement received by Prism Marketing Consultants expresses excitement about the festival’s return after a four-year hiatus. The new venue, located right on Morjim Beach and overlooking the Arabian Sea, adds a captivating element to the experience.
“We are thrilled to be back after a hiatus of 4 years! The new home is right on Morjim Beach, at the stunning Antisocial, Goa, a stone’s throw away from the Arabian Sea.”
In addition to Anthony B, the festival boasts a diverse lineup of renowned acts, including Trinidad’s reggae sensation Queen Omega, UK dub legend Iration Steppas, and the world music collective Prem Joshua & Band. In their official statement, the festival organizers express gratitude for welcoming back key figures in the Indian reggae scene while showcasing emerging talent. The anticipation is palpable as the festival aims to unite the reggae tribe later this month in the vibrant setting of Goa.
“We are also honoured to be welcoming back many of the pillars of the Indian reggae scene and also showcasing a host of exciting new talent. Looking forward to uniting the whole tribe once again this January 13th & 14th in Goa!” – the statement further read.
This announcement follows Anthony B’s involvement in a tumultuous episode at last December’s STING event due to poor stage management and unfulfilled contractual obligation by the organizers. Initially part of the celebrated 10 Giants lineup, Anthony B, Spragga Benz, and Tommy Lee unexpectedly chose not to perform, disappointing fans. Reflecting on this incident, Anthony B emphasized the importance of entertainers respecting the industry, fans, and themselves. He highlighted the negative impact of internal issues on the global perception of Caribbean culture through music, solidifying his decision not to participate in such events in the future.
