Hershey Swagg, whose given name is Dowayne Edwards, made his debut on the local entertainment scene more than a decade ago as a dedicated partygoer. Always a familiar face at the most high-profile events in Eastern Kingston and its environs, he has since embarked on a remarkable transformation journey, evolving from a fervent reveller into a prominent dancehall personality, businessman, and event promoter.
Currently serving as the owner and managing director of ‘Hot Topic Entertainment,’ Hershey Swagg has charted an impressive course in the world of entertainment, marketing, and promotion. His company offers a comprehensive range of services, including event planning, promotion, graphic design, and custom printing of various products such as clothing apparel, cups, banners, posters, vinyl cutouts and signs.
The journey to success, however, was not without its challenges. After officially launching his business in 2019, Hershey faced the daunting obstacle of the COVID-19 pandemic, which inflicted a significant financial setback, particularly since a substantial portion of his clientele hails from the entertainment industry. Despite these hurdles, he displayed unwavering determination and resilience, emerging from the trials stronger than ever.
Fast forward to 2023, Hershey Swagg stands as one of the most sought-after figures in his field. His impressive portfolio includes collaborations with renowned companies and entertainers, including Solid Agency, Mona Consultant Services, Izzy Collectives, Quik Eats, Upper Echelon Records, as well as artists like Aidonia, Govana, Shane O, Jahshii, Javvy Supreme, I Waata, Rajah Wild, and the award-winning producer CJTheChemist, among countless others.
Speaking with Prism Marketing Consultants, Hershey Swagg reflected on one of the defining moments of his career – working with the organizers of the Chris Brown “Under The Influence” concert. He described the experience as both challenging and rewarding, emphasizing the significance of meeting tight deadlines and exceeding expectations.
“I would have to say since launching the company, one of the most memorable moments was working with the organizers of the Chris Brown concert. It was a lot of pressure but an experience I will always cherish,” he added.
Beyond his role as the chief of “Hot Topic Entertainment,” Hershey Swagg is currently in full-throttle mode, meticulously planning the 2023 edition of his highly anticipated annual Christmas party, “Snow White.” Set to unfold on December 29 at the Gee Wee Car Park on Caledonia Avenue, directly across from Up Park Camp, this year’s event promises to be a grander and more euphoric affair. Partygoers can expect an unforgettable experience as Hershey Swagg continues to elevate the standards of entertainment on the local landscape.
Hershey Swagg’s journey from partygoer to businessman is a testament to his unwavering dedication and passion for the industry.
