International dancehall sensation Shenseea recently shared a health scare with her fans but thankfully received positive news following a medical visit.
The Jamaican entertainer, whose real name is Chinsea Lee, took to TikTok to address her followers while wearing hospital attire. She expressed her initial fear, stating,
“Came to the doctor thinking I was gonna find out I had cancer in my titties, but he said it’s just a part of my breasts. Thank God, Thank God.”
Breast cancer is a significant health concern in the United States, and statistics reveal disparities among different racial and ethnic groups. African-American women face unique challenges related to breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, they have a higher breast cancer death rate compared to white women despite having a slightly lower incidence rate.
Shenseea’s openness about her health journey is not new; in 2021, she revealed that she had been dealing with a hematoma and required hospitalization. She candidly described the pain she was experiencing and the medical attention she sought. This episode happened during her time in New York, where she was actively pursuing her music career.
After relocating to California, the artist also shared her struggles with weight loss and stress management. Despite these health challenges, Shenseea is in a better place now, having settled in the United States full-time.
The “Lick” singer is preparing to release her sophomore album, which is expected in the forthcoming months. In summer, Shenseea mentioned that the project was 80% complete.
