As September approaches, dancehall star Popcaan has a heartwarming plan to brighten the day for the children of his hometown, St Thomas.
For the third consecutive year, Popcaan, through his Popcaan Care Foundation, will host a grand event for thousands of children at Morant Bay’s Rudolph Elder Park in St Thomas. The entertainer and his team are committed to making this year’s event even more memorable, ensuring ample supplies for all attendees.
The back-to-school treat and fun day will commence this Tuesday, August 29, at 10 a.m. and continue until 6 p.m.
A representative of the Popcaan Care Foundation shared that despite the substantial cost of nearly J$8 million this year, the artiste is deeply fulfilled by the positive impact the event has on the community. The representative emphasised Popcaan’s profound attachment to St. Thomas and his eagerness to create an enjoyable experience for the children during this festive time of the year.
Last year, the event’s planning faced delays. Yet, it successfully distributed 1,000 bags filled with school supplies, snacks, and drinks to children, thanks to a combined contribution of J$3 million each from Popcaan and Clarks (UK).
The representative expressed that the event is a highly anticipated occasion in St. Thomas, and their focus remains on ensuring a joyous experience for both children and parents, brightening their lives through this thoughtful initiative.
