After this morning’s arrest of emerging dancehall artist Malie Donn and four of his associates, including dubplate practitioner Panta Son, at Barbados’ Grantley Adams International Airport, updates to the office of Prism Marketing Consultants indicate that the men have been questioned and subsequently released from custody.
The report revealed that both the men and the female involved were subjected to interviews, alongside a thorough review of hotel security footage. This scrutiny exposed inconsistencies in the woman’s statements, leading authorities to conclude that she had provided misleading and falsified information.
However, the situation took a turn as the woman was taken into custody following the men’s release, signifying that the investigation is still ongoing.
The origins of this controversy trace back to an incident where the woman, who had reportedly visited a member of the group at a hotel post-concert, alleged that she was drugged and sexually assaulted by the men. The subsequent report lodged with the Barbados Police Service (BPS) initiated an inquiry, culminating in the arrest of the five individuals at the airport.
Earlier, eyewitness accounts had indicated that immigration officials apprehended the men at approximately 4 a.m. on Monday as they awaited their return flight to Jamaica.
This development unfolded after the just-concluded Summa Fest 2023 event held on Saturday at Kensington Oval, where Malie Donn was part of the showcase.
