Prism Marketing Consultants has learnt that emerging dancehall talent Malie Donn and four of his associates have been detained in Barbados on allegations of rape.
According to several eyewitness accounts, the men, including dubplate practitioner Panta Son, were picked up on Monday morning at approximately 4 a.m. at the Grantley Adams International Airport by immigration officials while they were awaiting a return flight to Jamaica.
The allegations stem from an incident where a woman, who had visited a member of the group at a hotel after a concert, claims to have been drugged and sexually assaulted by the men. Subsequently, she filed a report with the Barbados Police Service (BPS), triggering an investigation. This inquiry led to the identification and subsequent detention of the individuals at the airport.
Known for hits such as “V6” and “Bank,” Malie Donn and his team were in the Caribbean island for the just concluded Summa Fest 2023 showcase held at the Kensington Oval on Saturday evening.
