On a sombre Friday morning, family members and well-wishers gathered at the Church of God of Prophecy in Stony Hill, St Andrew, to bid a final farewell to Earl Ninrod Bartley, the father of dancehall star Alkaline.
Affectionately known as “Rooster,” Earl Bartley, aged 59, had been battling an undisclosed illness for some time prior to passing away on Monday, June 12, a day after celebrating his birthday. His peaceful passing was surrounded by family members who offered comfort during his final moments.
Donning an all-black attire with a black and white bandana wrapped around his head, Alkaline stood among his family members, seemingly stoic but grieving. Paying his final respects, the deejay placed a single rose on his father’s casket.
During the eulogy, Earl Bartley was remembered as an exceptional father who was very supportive and took pride in all his children, including his superstar son.
Speaking with local media earlier in the week, Kerry, Alkaline’s sister and manager, expressed appreciation for the respect and privacy extended to the family since the news of their father’s passing and kindly requested that it continue during this challenging period.
