Valiant, currently en route to the St. Kitts Music Festival following a stint in Greece, is offering assistance to an upper sixth-form student of Munro College who requires more than J$360,000 to complete his education.
Despite being in Europe, the entertainer, whose real name is Raheem Bowes, saw the student’s [Mark Sterling Jr.] story on social media and immediately expressed his desire to pay the outstanding academic fees. When contacted, Valiant’s co-manager, Cara Vickers, confirmed his commitment with Prism Marketing Consultants.
She said he advised her to contact and inform him [Mark] of his intent to cover the full amount of the outstanding arrears.
A graduate of Oberlin High School, the trending deejay understands the importance of education despite the eyebrow-raising contents of his songs. He shared Mark’s story via his Instagram, urging the youngster to contact him or his management at soonest. Valiant’s gesture exemplifies his kindness and willingness to support youths and community development.
Mark’s mother, Beverley Leckie, expressed deep gratitude for Valiant’s offer, explaining her family’s financial challenges due to her husband’s health issues. She highlighted that the outstanding fees have caused stress and humiliation for Mark at Munro College, located in St Elizabeth.
The total amount needs to be paid by the first week of July for him to graduate. Upon returning from Greece, Valiant plans to visit Mark and his family personally.
