In a recent interview with podcaster Shelly-Ann Curran, dancehall artist Gully Bop expressed his disappointment with the current crop of dancehall acts, claiming they all sound alike. Bop expressly called out Skeng for allegedly stealing his “style,” but Skeng has yet to respond to the accusation, instead focusing on his own music career.
Gully Bop, whose real name is Robert Lee Malcolm, rose to notoriety in 2014 with his hit track “Wuk Affa Mi,” but his career has since waned. During the interview, the 60-year-old artist revealed that one of his kidneys and part of his intestines were removed due to ruptured appendicitis.
Although out of the spotlight in recent times, Bop has been surveying the music terrain and expressed regret over some of his past career moves. He also expressed disappointment with the music being produced by younger creatives in the industry.
