The month-long celebration of reggae music has finally arrived, and lovers of the genre eagerly await a series of live concerts, including the much-publicised “Essence of Reggae Music Festival” set for February 4 at the Police Officers Club in Kingston.Â
Conceptualised by accomplished music producer, artiste manager and businessman Comar “Frankie” Campbell of Frankie Music, the festival aims to create a platform for uplifting music and celebrate reggae’s unique qualities. This year’s carefully curated lineup features a myriad of talents with whom the GRAMMY Award-winning producer has worked and admired over the years.
Among the heavyweights are Bugle, Tanya Stephens and Laa Lee, with Voicemail, Mackeehan, Darrio, Qyor, Ras-I and Duane Stephenson rounding off the list. Musical eargasms will be provided by noted jocks DJ Kurt Riley and JJ Wizzle with live band backing by Tower Band. Â
Tickets for the festival are available at Avery’s Beauty Concepts, Get Fab Now Fashion, Genius Pharmacy and online at www.caribtix.com/essenceofreggae. Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early for a night of exceptional entertainment. Gates open at 6 pm, as the show gets underway at 8 pm sharp.
