The month-long celebration of reggae music has finally arrived, and lovers of the genre eagerly await a series of live concerts, including the much-publicised “Essence of Reggae Music Festival” set for February 4 at the Police Officers Club in Kingston.
Conceptualised by accomplished music producer, artiste manager and businessman Comar “Frankie” Campbell of Frankie Music, the festival aims to create a platform for uplifting music and celebrate reggae’s unique qualities. This year’s carefully curated lineup features a myriad of talents with whom the GRAMMY Award-winning producer has worked and admired over the years.
Among the heavyweights are Bugle, Tanya Stephens and Laa Lee, with Voicemail, Mackeehan, Darrio, Qyor, Ras-I and Duane Stephenson rounding off the list. Musical eargasms will be provided by noted jocks DJ Kurt Riley and JJ Wizzle with live band backing by Tower Band.
Tickets for the festival are available at Avery’s Beauty Concepts, Get Fab Now Fashion, Genius Pharmacy and online at www.caribtix.com/essenceofreggae. Concertgoers are encouraged to arrive early for a night of exceptional entertainment. Gates open at 6 pm, as the show gets underway at 8 pm sharp.
