On Thursday, November 17, the funeral service for beloved Jamaican actress, broadcaster and theatre icon Leonie Forbes O.D is scheduled to unfold at the Church of St. Margaret on Old Hope Road in St. Andrew.
The revelation was made yesterday by Forbes’s former spouse, Dr Keith Amiel, Manager of Corporate Affairs at Caribbean Broilers Group.
According to Dr Amiel, “The funeral is tentatively set for The Church of St Margaret in Liguanea at about 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm.”
Alluding to the proceedings, he noted, “The programme will be fulsome with members of the media, theatre, and performing arts represented,”
Forbes, 85, passed away on October 25 at the University Hospital of the West Indies in St. Andrew. Her cause of death remains undisclosed.
Another of Jamaica’s national treasures, Leonie Forbes, was awarded the Order of Distinction (Officer Class) in 1980 by the Government of Jamaica for her unwavering commitment to her craft and nation-building.
She is also the co-author of “The Re-Entry Into Sound” with Alma Mock Yen. A well-established book that serves as a text for broadcasting academies across the Caribbean.
