The nominees for MTV’s upcoming European Music Awards 2022 (EMA) have been announced. Harry Styles is undoubtedly the front-runner with seven nods, including Best Artist, Best Song, and Best Video. Taylor Swift trails in second with six nods behind Styles and is also up for Best Longform Video, a new award at the 2022 MTV EMAs. Both Styles and Swift received Best Local Act nods in their respective regions, the United Kingdom and Ireland and the United States, respectively. Nicki Minaj and ROSALA, each with five nominations, are vying for Best Artist and Best Song titles.
Among the first-time nominees is Jamaican dancehall star Shenseea, competing in the “Best Push” category against eleven other contenders. Other MTV EMA 2022 debutants include Chencho Corleone, GAYLE, Stephen Sanchez, Dove Cameron, Doechii, Baby Keem, Kim Petras, Mae Muller, Saucy Santana, Summer Walker, Wet Leg, among others.
The PSD Bank Dome, a multifunctional indoor stadium in Düsseldorf, Germany, will host the ceremony. On November 13, MTV will air a live broadcast in more than 170 countries, and on November 14, Paramount+ and Pluto TV will make the ceremony available to viewers worldwide. This is Germany’s sixth time playing host.
Continuously broadening her musical repertoire through collaborations with a multitude of international acts. Shenseea’s effort with Puerto Rican singer and composer Rauw Alejandro on the song Red Velvet garnered her credit on an album that received a nomination for a Latin Grammy.
Red Velvet was released in February and marked Shenseea’s debut on a reggaeton single. The single forms part of the nine-track album Trap Cake Volume 2 by Rauw, dubbed the “King of Modern Reggaeton.” Accomplished Jamaican artiste and producer Rvssian also appeared on the album with the song Fvck Ux2.
The Latin Grammy Awards 2022 will unfold on Thursday, November 17, in Las Vegas at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
