Murder accused Noel Maitland is set to make his first court appearance this Friday, August 12, in the Kingston and St. Andrew Parish Court.
The police constable and music producer, represented by Attorney-at-law Christopher Townsend, is charged with the murder of his girlfriend and social media personality Donna-Lee Donaldson who has been reported missing since July 11.
Since her disappearance, there has been much public outcry and several local and international protests calling on the local authorities to expedite the investigation as friends and family demand justice for Donaldson.
Following a preliminary investigation Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Crime Portfolio, DCP Fitz Bailey, announced that Maitland had been charged with murder.
DCP Bailey revealed that Constable Noel Maitland had been slapped with the charges after detectives attached to the case shifted their focus to treating Donna-Lee’s disappearance as a murder investigation.
Constable Maitland remains in custody after a judge refused his habeas corpus application.
