Renowned rapper and fashion designer Ye, formerly known as Kanye West has recently opened a 7400-square-foot showroom in Los Angeles, located just two stores down from the Adidas retail space on Melrose Avenue. The prime location, situated at 8025 Melrose Ave. on the corner of Melrose and Laurel Ave., can be used as an office, retail store, or showroom. It is, however, unclear what West’s intentions are for the space.
Despite Adidas cutting ties with West in October following his anti-Semitic comments, the rapper appears to be making strides forward with his Yeezy line. Fans have accused him of trolling Adidas, his former business partner, by moving in next door. Investors have even filed a class-action lawsuit against Adidas, alleging that the company knew about West’s offensive remarks years before ending the partnership with him. While the choice of location may have been controversial, West’s new Yeezy showroom marks a significant step forward for the embattled designer.
Recently, West held his secret YZY Season 10 show, dubbed “YZY FREE,” at the new location. The show was an “extremely low-key affair” featuring skinhead models wearing skin-tight white T-shirts. Just days prior, he held a casting call at an L.A. warehouse.
