Dancehall star Agent Sasco is set to receive major recognition for his contributions to internationally acclaimed music projects, including Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy-winning and UK Platinum-certified To Pimp A Butterfly. The Jamaican artiste, who appears on the album’s hard-hitting track The Blacker The Berry, will be among the honourees at the Back 2 Da Future Music Ltd. Excellence in Music Ceremony on Tuesday, September 15 at the Courtleigh Auditorium in New Kingston.
Agent Sasco’s recognition highlights an often-overlooked chapter of Jamaica’s influence on some of global music’s biggest projects. To Pimp A Butterfly won Best Rap Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards, while Sasco’s contribution to The Blacker The Berry connected the dancehall deejay to one of Kendrick Lamar’s most acclaimed and culturally significant albums. The project was also nominated for Album of the Year, underlining its wider impact across the music industry.
The honour will also recognise Agent Sasco’s contribution to Sean Paul’s Live N Livin, which received a Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album in 2022. Sasco appears alongside Mavado on the remix of I’m Sanctify, adding another internationally recognised project to his impressive catalogue. The Recording Academy lists Live N Livin among the nominees for Best Reggae Album at the 64th Grammy Awards.
Formerly known as the B2F Grammy Certificate Ceremony, the newly titled Back 2 Da Future Music Ltd. Excellence in Music Ceremony 2026, in collaboration with The Royalty Network Inc., will celebrate music professionals whose work has contributed to Grammy-winning, Grammy-nominated and UK BPI-certified projects. For Agent Sasco, the recognition places fresh attention on a remarkable international résumé and reinforces the far-reaching influence Jamaican artistes continue to have on global music.
