The placement gives the Jamaican dancehall record a powerful second wave of exposure and adds to the growing list of Caribbean music crossing into major global entertainment productions.
Produced on Jahvy Ambassador’s Soul Survivor Riddim, “Gal Policy” has remained one of Kranium’s notable releases years after its debut. For Jahvy, whose given name is Jahvel Morrison, the television sync marks another significant milestone. “It’s an amazing feeling. I’m delighted to know that even years after its release, it’s still able to be an impactful record in the global space,” the popular dancehall producer said.
According to Jahvy Ambassador, the opportunity came through his publishing team after they presented him with the chance to secure the song for the series. “My team is always working, so I’m grateful. When I saw my publisher reach out to me with a sync deal opportunity, I didn’t hesitate,” he shared. The producer believes the achievement also reinforces the growing international strength of Jamaican music. “It says that we are a genre to be reckoned with globally, as our music is competing in the same spaces as other genres in the global market,” he said.
The Fightland placement also shines a spotlight on the growing value of music sync licensing, allowing songs to find fresh audiences and create new opportunities long after their initial release.
