After almost 17 years away from UK stages, Jamaican dancehall star Charly Black is preparing for an emotional comeback that he believes could become one of the defining moments of his career. The Party Animal hitmaker is set to perform at Reggaeland Festival this August following the reinstatement of his UK visa, finally reconnecting with British fans who continued streaming and supporting his music throughout his lengthy absence from the country.
Speaking about the moment, Charly Black admitted the news left him overwhelmed with excitement. “I was very happy when I got the news from my manager,” he recalled. “I was in Germany and me buss a blank inna di air and give thanks.” Despite being unable to perform in the United Kingdom since 2009, the dancehall entertainer said he never allowed the situation to break his spirit, instead drawing motivation from the loyalty of his UK fanbase.
“I was really appreciative of the fact that my music was still able to reach there even when I couldn’t physically,” he explained. “The people still streaming and loving the music in my absence was a great feeling.” However, Charly Black acknowledged that not being able to perform in person likely slowed the growth of his brand in one of dancehall’s strongest overseas markets. “When you’re on the ground performing as an artiste it’s 1,000 times better,” he said. “It’s more engaging and people connect with you more.”
Now focused firmly on the future, the entertainer says the upcoming Reggaeland appearance carries enormous personal and professional significance. “This is a very important performance, maybe the most important one of my career, because it’s been years,” he shared. Charly Black also noted that England has consistently been one of the strongest territories for his music, making the long-awaited return even more meaningful for both himself and supporters eager to finally see him live again.
Known for his resilience and independent hustle, Charly Black says perseverance has remained central to his journey in dancehall, even without constant backing from major labels. With anticipation already building around his UK comeback, the entertainer is confident the atmosphere at Reggaeland Festival will be unforgettable. “It ago mad,” he declared confidently. “I know the fans reaction gonna be great.” After years apart, Charly Black and his British supporters are finally preparing for a reunion that promises emotion, energy and pure dancehall excitement.
