Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel is setting his sights beyond the stage and onto the big screen. In a recent interview with Essence magazine, the prolific hitmaker hinted at a potential biopic, declaring, “I’ve got one of the best stories in music, so to bring that to the screen would be a dream come true.” With a life marked by controversy, resilience, and undeniable influence, the prospect of a Kartel biopic feels both inevitable and long overdue.
But before the silver screen, Kartel is conquering global stages. His Worl’ Boss Tour—his first in over 20 years—kicks off May 24 in Guyana and spans 15 major stops across the U.S., Europe, and the Caribbean. From Trinidad’s One Caribbean Music Festival and London’s Wireless Festival to Jamaica’s Reggae Sumfest and a highly anticipated closing show at BP Pulse Live in Birmingham, the tour signals his unstoppable comeback. “Every city has a different vibe, and I’m here for all of it,” Kartel told Essence. “The summer is ours,” he added in a recent press release. With new music like the Steve-O Carless-produced single “Pretty Girls” and a loyal fan base worldwide, 2025 may very well be the Worl’ Boss’s most triumphant chapter yet.
