The queen of sultry R&B ballads is heading back to the Caribbean stage. Grammy Award-winning songstress Toni Braxton has been confirmed as one of the headline acts for Reggae Sumfest 2025, marking her long-anticipated return to Jamaica after a 16-year hiatus. The multi-platinum artist, renowned for classics like Un-Break My Heart, Breathe Again, and He Wasn’t Man Enough, will take the spotlight on Festival Night 2—Saturday, July 19—at the iconic Catherine Hall Entertainment Complex in Montego Bay. Organisers Downsound Entertainment describe her upcoming set as “soulful” and “emotionally charged,” promising a show that will resonate across generations.
Braxton’s addition elevates an already high-powered lineup that blends the roots of reggae with the global appeal of crossover talent. “Her return to Sumfest is both historic and timely,” said Joe Bogdanovich, executive producer of the festival. “We’ve always embraced musical diversity, and Toni brings a timeless elegance that complements Jamaica’s vibrant soundscape.” Her last appearance at Sumfest dates back to 2009, a performance still remembered for its smooth delivery and powerful vocals. With over 70 million records sold worldwide and seven Grammy wins, Braxton’s return underscores Reggae Sumfest’s expanding global footprint.
Held annually since 1993, Reggae Sumfest has earned its title as “the greatest reggae show on Earth,” drawing over 30,000 patrons each year and hosting legends such as Beyoncé, Usher, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent alongside reggae and dancehall elites. This year’s edition, running from July 13–19, will feature a vibrant week of events—from the high-energy Street Dance to the newly introduced Global Fete—before culminating in two explosive festival nights. The 2025 roster also boasts appearances from dancehall heavyweights like Vybz Kartel, Shenseea, and Masicka, alongside roots stalwarts Tarrus Riley, Lila Iké, and Bugle.
Early ticket sales, which opened on April 18, suggest that the 2025 staging could break attendance records. With an eclectic lineup that spans genres and continents, Reggae Sumfest continues to evolve into a world-class festival experience—anchored by Jamaican culture, but with open arms for global artistry. As one fan put it on social media, “Toni Braxton touching the same stage as Kartel? Sumfest nah miss!”
