Music has long been a source of healing, and for Swiss producer Timo Don, it became a lifeline. In 2021, amid a battle with depression, he found solace in creating the New Start rhythm—a deeply emotional instrumental reflecting his journey toward self-renewal. What began as a personal escape has now blossomed into an international dancehall project, with More Than Conquerors, performed by Jamaican dancehall star Jahmiel, emerging as one of the standout tracks. “I had Jahmiel in my vision from the start,” Timo Don revealed. “We both had to reach each other’s standards, and that’s why I think it’s such a great song. We are both proud of the project.”
The song, an anthem of resilience and triumph, has been gaining significant traction since its release. Within hours of its official video premiering on YouTube, it amassed thousands of views, and engagement continues to rise across digital platforms. Jahmiel, known for his introspective and motivational lyrics, delivers a performance that resonates with audiences worldwide. His reputation as a conscious dancehall act has earned him a solid fan base globally, including Europe, where reggae and dancehall have seen a steady rise in popularity. According to industry reports, streaming numbers for Jamaican music in Europe have surged by over 30% in the past five years, with dancehall acts like Jahmiel, Masicka, and 450 driving the movement.
Timo Don’s passion for Jamaican culture extends beyond production. A former dancehall dancer, he has traveled to Jamaica more than ten times since 2018, building connections and promoting the genre in Switzerland. While New Start (Vol 1) features several talented artistes, including Bugle, Chi Ching Ching, and Sylxnce, it is More Than Conquerors that encapsulates the essence of the project. “People in Europe are really impressed with the quality and the musicality behind the songs,” Timo Don shared. “I know it has huge potential, and I’m taking it step by step, starting with Jamaica.”
As More Than Conquerors continues to gain momentum, it stands as a testament to the unifying power of music. What started as a personal journey for a Swiss producer has now become an international movement of inspiration and strength. For Jahmiel and Timo Don, this collaboration is more than just music—it is proof that true artistry transcends borders and hardships, leaving an indelible mark on the global dancehall scene.
