Richie Stephens rang in 2025 with a stellar performance at the Miramar Regional Park in Florida, on New Year’s Eve. The reggae crooner captivated the audience with his soulful delivery and timeless hits, setting the perfect tone for the year ahead. Stephens, known for classics such as Take Me Away and Weakness for Sweetness, proved once again why he remains a beloved figure in the reggae and lovers’ rock genres.
Reflecting on the night’s energy, Stephens shared, “Performing on New Year’s Eve is always special. It’s about bringing people together to celebrate life, love, and music. The crowd in Miramar was amazing, and it reminded me of why I do this.” His performance marked the start of what promises to be a busy year, as the singer prepares to embark on an extensive European tour in the months ahead. With some dates already confirmed, Stephens is eager to reconnect with his international fanbase. “Europe has always shown my music a lot of love,” he said. “I’m looking forward to bringing the music to the fans there—it’s going to be a fantastic tour.”
Back in Jamaica, Stephens continued his streak of memorable performances as a headliner for the Bounty Killer and Friends concert held at Sabina Park on January 3. This event, a highlight of the island’s entertainment calendar, saw Stephens delivering yet another noteworthy set, further cementing his reputation as a consummate performer.
Beyond his musical endeavours, Stephens has also demonstrated his philanthropic spirit. In December, he presented a cheque for US$5,000 to the family of Reggae Gospel singer Lieutenant Stitchie, who suffered a brain haemorrhage in September. The funds were raised during a benefit concert Stephens organized in Chicago on November 29. “Stitchie has always been a good friend and a source of encouragement,” Stephens noted. “Helping him in this time of need was the right thing to do.”
Stephens’ dual commitment to his craft and his community underscores his enduring relevance in the industry. As he prepares to take his music to Europe and continues to support his peers, 2025 is shaping up to be another impactful year for the reggae stalwart.
