Notis Records, a well-known music label based in Jamaica, has released its latest project, “Free Spirit,” a modern take on the classic reggae sound. The rhythm compilation features live instrumentation, incorporating the harmonious sounds of drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, and horns with vocal offerings from various talents led by Bugle and Spragga Benz’s joint effort, “We Know Who They Are.” Other notable artists on the compilation include ZaMunda, Heavyweight Rockaz, Qyor, Kumar, Tony Rebel & Abatau, Nattali Rize & Irie Souljah, Imeru Tafari, Medisun, Mackeehan, Miztrizz, Ras – I, Big Ras, Shuga, Azizzi Romeo and Iba Mahr.
“This Riddim was created during the pandemic, a time when in Jamaica we had no movement days and lock down at 6 pm. On one hand, it was disruptive, but on the other hand, it also allowed me as Unga Barunga to be creative and as a result of that experience, I was able to produce this Riddim,” declared Unga Barunga, founder and one-half of the dynamic drum and bass duo Heavyweight Rockaz.
Notis Records has produced hits for accomplished entertainers such as Busy Signal (Come Over), Chronixx (Access Granted), Ding Ding and Chevaugh (Holiday), Heavyweight Rockaz and Jesse Royal (Sweet Sensation) and Iba Mahr (Diamond Sox). Released on Friday, May 26, Free Spirit Riddim is now available on all major digital and streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and SoundCloud.
