Aidonia continues to navigate the painful reality of losing his only child, Khalif Lawrence, who passed away last December after a protracted battle with cancer.Â
Although returning to the music scene, he has been open about the tremendous void his son’s passing left in his life. In a recent Instagram post, the entertainer gave his followers a glimpse into his daily emotional struggles as he tries to grapple with the unfortunate reality.
“Woke up with tears in my eyes thinking about u papa. Trying hard to be ok, but I just can’t!!!! Using rum and weed to suppress my thoughts and emotions! But in reality, I’m LOST without you. Miss you son. I can hear you, I can feel you, I can smell you, I just can’t see you,” Aidonia wrote.
The heartfelt message prompted an outpouring of support from fans and fellow entertainers alike, including Mavado, Usain Bolt, Shuga, Munga Honourable, Chris Gayle, Voicemail, Cham, Rvssian, Gary Matalon, Teejay, ZJ Sparks, Bay C (TOK), and Rygin King among others.
Aidonia’s openness about his struggles with grief and loss is a reminder that celebrities, like anyone else, are not immune to the pain of losing a loved one. By sharing his story, he is not only honouring his son’s memory but also helping to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and grief in the entertainment industry.
Despite his ongoing anguish, contrastingly, plans are also afoot for his upcoming birthday celebrations with an event on April 8th at Turtle River Park in Ocho Rios, St. Ann. The occasion is expected to attract a plethora of high-profile guests.
